Culvert at Eastern Dock 6

The 100m long culvert leading from the harbour wall into the Port of Dover's Eastern Dock was constructed at various stages during the development of the dock with the earliest stage built in 1969.

Sustainovel were commissioned to carry out the very first Principal Inspection of the 2m wide culvert since its original construction. We carried out visual inspection of the culvert walls and roof slab with diver surveys of submerged areas. Ultrasonic testing of steel sheet piles was carried out in addition to cover meter readings, carbonation tests and chloride testing of the concrete elements.
